A late 17th-Century English antique oak child's armchair. 

Peg-joined construction

With a shaped cresting rail carved with stylised scrolls incorporating an egg-and-dart design and stylised flowers and foliage, over a single panelled back carved with a lozenge, again with a central floral design. With gouge and punchwork carving to the border of the lozenge with four lunette-type floral forms to its outer edges. The centre panel is flanked either side by rear upright supports carved with elongated acanthus leaves.

The arms are downswept and supported by turned supports of baluster form. The plank seat is formed from two separate oak planks.

Supported overall by turned front legs, again of baluster form, the two back legs are plain, all united by peripheral stretchers.

Provenance --Acquired from a private Norfolk-based collection close to our shop in Walsingham, Norfolk.

Condition -.Please refer to the images. All original aside the front plank of the seatboard which was replaced historically and now has a good degree of age in its own right. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
