An 18th Century and later oak wainscot armchair.

This is a chair for those that want the look rather than the purest collector! What we would also consider as a "decorator's piece" hence the price!

With a scroll-carved cresting rail above a stylised foliate carved lozenge-shaped back panel back flanked by bobbin turned half-pilasters, solid seat with arch carved front rail, raised on turned legs and flattened stretchers.

Condition - The chair is a combination of early 18th-century in the main, with 19th-century and later additions. The applied bobbin turning is 19th-century. The stretchers which adjoin the legs are also of a later period. A dark masking-type tape has been applied to the rear of the seat board for no apparent reason. This appears to have been done many years ago. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.

Size: Back Height 99 cm (39") x seat height 35.5 cm (14") x outer-arm to outer-arm width 58 cm (22 3/4")
