A 19th-century English antique candlebox formed from tin sheet, also known as "toleware".
With two wall brackets and a lift-up lid (decorated with repousee-worked linear decoration), which opens to reveal an interior void of any fittings. The hasp to the lid still functions.
The box retains a significant amount of original paint to the external surfaces. This has gained a wonderful time-worn appearance.
Provenance - Sourced within Norfolk from a private collection of early lighting and related items.
Condition - As per the images.
