A large German antique stoneware bellarmine jug, circa 1700.
The surface decorated with salt-glaze, with a typical bearded mask at the neck and impressed with a number of love hearts on the shoulders and main body.
This jug displays very well.
Provenance - Deaccessioned from the now closed Bellarmine Museum, Norfolk. Also featured in Volume III of Alex Wright's reference book "The Bellarmine and other German Stoneware", No.37.
Condition - Good as per the images. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
