A 17th-Century German antique stoneware bellarmine jug, circa 1620-1675.
Decorated with salt-glaze producing a "tiger-glaze" once fired in the film.
Of baluster shaped form, the face mask depicted with a large nose and stylised leaves for the beard. The design of medallion has been influenced by The Arms of Amsterdam.
This jug displays very well.
Provenance - Deaccessioned from the now closed Bellarmine Museum, Norfolk. Also featured in Volume III of Alex Wright's reference book "The Bellarmine and other German Stoneware", No.23.
Condition - Good as per the images. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
