Featured in the reference book "The Bellarmine & Other German Stoneware", Volume II, By Alex Wright, and, recently deaccessioned from the Bellarmine Museum, Norfolk, we are delighted to offer for sale this 17th Century salt-glazed stoneware bellarmine jug.
With a typical bearded mask, bearing the Crowned Shield of Ravensberg to the baluster-shaped body and dating to circa 1620-1675, this jug is decorated in tiger-glaze.
Provenance - Ex Bellarmine Museum, Swaffham, Norfolk, England.
Condition - the neck and string rim have a very historic repair. Please refer to the images. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
