A mid 17th-century English antique oak boarded box of six-plank construction, circa 1660.
With a one-piece plank lid and, unusually, four iron lockplates/locks mounted above the carved initials 'RS' and "AE".
This is a rare box given the number of lockplates. It would look good in any setting.
Provenance - Unknown.
Condition - Please refer to the images. There is minor surface wear commensurate with age. The locks no longer function. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
