A warm and characterful early 19th‑century English School folk art oil on canvas, depicting two pigs feeding in a rustic pigsty while a farmer stands beyond the fence. This example is unusually charming in its primitive execution, with earthy tones, naïve perspective, and a wonderfully honest portrayal of rural life.

The painting bears a signature “George Morland” lower right. While we offer no attribution, the subject matter, palette, and rustic sentiment clearly echo the work of George Morland (1763–1804) and his circle, whose portrayals of farm animals and country labourers were widely emulated throughout the early 19th century.

Presented in an associated wooden frame and ready to hang.

Provenance: England. 19th century.

Material: Oil on canvas.

Condition: Please refer to the images. Images 1-4 have been taken in a darkened room to prevent reflection. The true colours of the painting can be seen from image 5 onwards, taken in natural light. The painting displays well.

Size: Excluding frame 56 cm x 34 cm (22" x 13 1/2")
