An early 19th-century George III period English antique leather fire bucket bearing a worn and unidentified coat of arms / armorial device.

We love early leather items from this period!

These buckets were kept full of dry sand and used in case of fire.

Formed on a mould from wet leather, earlier examples were hand-stitched together, rather than riveted. This example is riveted.

The bucket is of tapered form. With a single leather carry handle, connected to the carcass by two circular brass rings.

The leather has gained lovely patination/colour to its surface.

Provenance - Unknown.

Condition - Please refer to the images. There is minor surface wear commensurate with age. The bucket is in good order overall. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.

Size: Height 25 cm (10")
