An 18th-century neoclassical antique carved wooden sculpture depicting a female's head.
Italian origin with traces of original polychromy.
Her hair is tied back in a bun, and dressed with a floral and foliate chaplet (headdress).
Provenance - Sourced from a private collection in Portugal. It is thought that this may have been acquired historically during an aristocrats "Grand Tour".
Condition—Please refer to the images. There are losses to the polychrome, and surface wear is commensurate with age. Her head was likely attached to a torso, as there is evidence on the underside that it has been cut away from the body. This was undertaken a considerable time ago. She requires a stand to enable her to sit upright for display purposes; otherwise, she leans on her left side (see image 3 for reference).
