An 18th-Century Antique Treen Rise-And-Fall Two-Branch Candelabrum / Candlestick
An 18th-Century Antique Treen Rise-And-Fall Two-Branch Candelabrum / Candlestick
An 18th-Century antique treen (most probably fruitwood) turned rise-and-fall two branch candelabrum.
English origin.
The stem with knopped finial and screw-thread with two branches, each turned with bobbin and fillet decoration, terminate with a single candle socket. The branches rotate to raise or lower the height of the candle sockets. The base of the stem is again decorated in graduated bobbin and fillet turning and supported on a circular base with raised rim.
The height is easy to adjust.
The surface has built up a lovely patinated surface.
To summarise, this is a lovely looking stick that would make a great addition to any candlestick or treen collection or simple as a decorative item in one's home.
