Acquired by us just for the two 18th-Century carved walnut panels that make up the main part of this pair of bellows, we now offer this item for sale in attic found condition.

18th-Century in date. Continental in origin.

One side heavily carved, the handled shaped in the form of acanthus leaves over an elongated ovoid-shaped panel with two birds, flowers, foliage and fruit and stylised grotesques with decorative brass rivets below and, terminating in a lions head. Verso, the other panel incorporates a simpler foliate design, the centre with air vent), and again terminating with the lions head.

Provenance - Unknown. Found in Suffolk, England.

Condition - Please refer to the images. The bellows no longer function . There are minor traces of old worm (inactive and treated as a precautionary measure), the leather has deteriorated to such a point through age, that the majority of this has disintegrated, and, it's original brass spout which once fitted the lions mouth is also long since lost. With the said the remaining panels are decorative in their own right and could be hung from a wall to display their true beauty or placed on the hearth of the fireplace. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
