Prudence is to the right, with a mirror in her right hand and a snake in the left. The mirror gives her two faces. A young person for the anticipation of the future, and an old one in consideration of the past.
The mirror and the snake teaches us about the unpredictability of life and the importance of humility. The story highlights how human beings often indulge in vanity and pride, only to be taken away by the serpent, death.
Provenance - Ex private collection, South-West of England. Previously in the collection of Monsieur Le Coc, a French television star. They were previously on display at his home, namely Chateau de Challias, South West France, prior to the sale of the panels to the UK buyer.
Condition - Good as per the images.
