This late 18th-century Eastern Orthodox icon depicts Saint Peter, the Rock of the Church. Every flake of paint and every mark on the arched timber panel serves as a fingerprint of time. From the traditional blue and ochre robes to the delicate dotted halo, this is provincial iconography at its most authentic—raw, spiritual, and deeply human.

Provenance: Eastern Orthodox (Russian/Balkan tradition). 18th Century. Acquired directly from a private Spanish-based collection.
Material: Tempera on pine panel with traces of gold leaf.
Condition: Good for age. Expected wear, craquelure, pigment loss, and surface patina consistent with an 18th‑century painted icon. No modern overpainting noted. Please refer to the images.
