A substantial late 15th-Century / early 16th-Century carved wooden sculpture.
Most probably Northern Europe, attributable to Germany.
Carved from limewood.
The carving depicting the standing figure of Mary flanked by the figures of God the Father and Christ on a bank of cherubs and swirling clouds, with a kneeling patron below. This carving has been clearly undertaken by the hand of an Old Master carver.
Provenance - Previously in the private collection of Karen and the late Marc Ellington, Towie Barclay Castle, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Condition - Please refer to the images. There are elements of surface wear commensurate with age. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
