This mid-18th-century English oak dresser base embodies the rustic elegance of Georgian country furniture. Its warm patina, sturdy frame, and practical drawers reflect the craftsmanship of vernacular interiors, where utility and beauty were inseparable.
Once a focal point in farmhouse kitchens, this sideboard now offers collectors a tangible link to the domestic life of the 1700s. Its proportions and presence make it equally suited to historic interiors or modern rustic schemes, a timeless piece that bridges centuries of design.
Provenance: England. Mid 18th century. Purchased from a private property in Cley-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, England.
Condition: There is surface wear commensurate with age. Please refer to the images. The drawer liners are original. The brass door furniture on the left and right drawers has been replaced historically. The handle to the centre drawer retains its original brass handle.
