A handsome early‑to-mid‑18th‑century English delftware punch bowl, attributed to Bristol or London (Lambeth) and dating to around 1720–1750. The decoration is the key to attribution and the thickness of the earthenware body: the exterior is painted with bold, freely executed spiralling scroll motifs and radiating chrysanthemum‑like flower sprigs — a direct English interpretation of Chinese Kangxi‑period porcelain, widely copied by delftware potters during this period.
The soft, slightly bluish‑grey tin glaze is a strong indicator of Bristol production, where this cool, gently “smudged” glaze tone is characteristic. London (Lambeth) wares typically show a crisper, whiter glaze. The lively brushwork, with hatched strokes framing the scrolls, is consistent with both centres, but the glaze colour and overall feel lean toward Bristol.
Inside, a simple central flower sprig continues a classic English delftware convention found at both Bristol and London. The unglazed, slightly sandy footrim is typical of English delftware generally. The painted “79” on the base is almost certainly an old collection or auction number rather than a factory mark, as English delftware was rarely marked.
Could the bowl be Liverpool? It is possible, but Liverpool punch bowls of this type tend to show different decorative habits and a thinner, more porous body. The weight, glaze, and brushwork here align more closely with Bristol or London.
A strong, honest example of early English tin‑glazed earthenware with excellent decorative presence.
Provenance: England. 18th century.

Condition: Please see the images. There are rim frits. The body appears to have been restored; however, this has been executed very well.
