18th Century Dutch Antique Delftware Barber's Bowl or Bleeding Bowl
An 18th-century Dutch antique delftware barber's bowl or bleeding bowl.
The earthenware body is decorated in tin-glaze in under-glaze blue, the centre is decorated in the Chinoiserie manner (Oriental style) with a garden scene incorporating a garden gate with flowers and foliage. The outer border is decorated with a repeat pattern of fruit and foliage. The arched cut-in to the rim is decorated with blue dash decoration.
Condition - Heavily used and resulting wear is noted. The bowl has been repaired historically and a very feint hairline crack is evident albeit stable and cannot be seen unless under close scrutiny. Please refer to the images. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
