A 17th-century English antique oak backstool.
With a shaped cresting rail flanked by two upright supports, each capped with a decorative finial. Inset between the supports is a single elongated panel. Below, the plank seat with carved thumbnail edge is supported by a plain apron with two turned front legs terminating on ball feet and united by a turned stretcher. The back legs are of plain form and are united by a plain stretcher. The back legs are also united to the front legs by a plain stretcher at each side.
