An antique bronze posnet, or skillet pan, made by Warner of London in the 18th-Century.
Whilst the handle no longer bears any makers mark, the stepped bracket to the underside of the handle where it joins the pan, is attributable to this foundry (established 1739 and continued until 1949).
These skillets were used as cooking pots over open fires and also by apothecaries for mixing medicines.
Provenance - Ex-private collection, Norfolk, England.
Condition -.Please refer to the images. There is a very old riveted patch repair to the base of the pan. This simply adds to its charm in our opinion.
Size - overall length 42.5 cm (16 3/4")
