A beautifully expressive Baroque carved wooden fragment, dating to the 17th century and depicting the serene head of a cherub. The sculptor has captured the soft, rounded features and contemplative expression typical of Baroque devotional carving, with gently closed eyes and delicately modelled cheeks that radiate a quiet spiritual presence.

The fragment likely originated from a larger architectural or ecclesiastical composition — possibly an altarpiece, pulpit, or decorative surround — where cherubic heads symbolised divine protection and heavenly intercession. The surviving surface shows a rich, warm patina, with age‑earned texture and movement in the grain that only centuries can produce.

A compelling and highly decorative survivor of early Baroque craftsmanship, full of character and sculptural charm. Displays beautifully and works equally well as a standalone object or within a curated wall arrangement.
