16th-Century Dutch Antique Earthenware Pipkin / Cooking Pot

An antique earthenware cooking pot.
Also known as a "pipkin" because it refers to a specific type of earthenware pot traditionally used for cooking over direct heat from coals or a wood fire, often with three legs to sit on the embers, making it a common utensil in medieval and post medieval cooking.
16th Century. Dutch origin. An almost identical example is held in the Gdańsk Archaeology Collection.
The pot has three feet and is made of typical "Bergen op Zoom" earthenware. "Bergen op Zoom" is a city in the South-West region of Holland.
It is partly glazed in an attractive orange/red colour. Usually this type of pot was made from bronze. Ceramic examples are extremely rare.
The pot was placed in the hot embers of the hearth over night. Carrots, onions, potatoes and meat were added. The result was a nice warm breakfast stew for the following morning.
Provenance - Unknown.
Condition - The pot is in exceptional condition with no damage. Please refer to the images.
