An early 16th-century antique oak panel, carved with a depiction of "Salvator Mundi".
In 16th-century iconography, a figure holding a globe with a cross above in their right hand, known as a "globus cruciger," typically represents Christ as "Salvator Mundi" (Saviour of the World), symbolizing Christ's dominion over the world.
French origin.
The figure, standing full length, portrayed holding the globe in their right hand. Standing upon a pediment with a naive, stylised half-floral rosette below.
Provenance - Unknown.
Condition - Please refer to the images. There is surface wear commensurate with age. The panel does display well.
