A beautifully preserved 15th‑century Gothic carved oak panel, originally part of a larger architectural or ecclesiastical furnishing—likely a screen, stall front, or devotional cabinet. The panel is worked in deep blind‑tracery, a hallmark of late‑medieval craftsmanship, and retains a rich, time‑softened surface with excellent colour and patina.
The composition is arranged in a strong vertical rhythm, framed by moulded stiles and filled with a sequence of pointed ogee arches rising into finely pierced tracery forms. Despite its compact size, the carving displays the confident hand of a professional workshop: crisp line, balanced symmetry, and a sculptural depth that catches the light beautifully.
Surviving Gothic panels of this quality and completeness are increasingly scarce, and this example offers both decorative appeal and historical integrity. A superb piece for collectors of medieval woodwork, or for interior use as a mounted architectural fragment.
Provenance: France. 15th-century. Possibly an old wall panel.
Material: Oak.
Condition: Please refer to the images. There is surface wear commensurate with age. The outer left and right borders show some traces of scorching, possibly from a candle.
