A late 18thC English antique harvest barrel or costrel, constructed from wooden staves and iron hoops, with a shaped iron carry-handle.
Used to take cider or ale into the fields. The 18thC equivalent of a modern-day thermos flask!
With traces of its original polychromy (paint).
Provenance - Unknown.
Condition - As per the images. Lacking its original cork stopper. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
Size - 23 cm (9") in length.
