A late 16thC Scandinavian antique oak table top box.
Of boarded construction with a domed lid joined to the carcass by way of large iron hinges.
The front retains its original iron escutcheon. The sides retain their original iron carry handles.
The top, front and side panels are carved with stylised decorative scrolls, flowers and fruit.
The boarded base is supported on bun feet.
The lid lifts to reveal an interior void of any fittings.
This is a great looking period box that could be used as a jewelry box.
Condition - Please remember that this box is approximately 430 years old. There is evidence of repairs including restoration to the lid and bottom corner of the front panel. The original lock and key remain but need to be reattached to the front panel. This will be undertaken before dispatch when sold.
Size - height approx. 18 cm (7") x width approx. 28 cm (11") x depth approx. 22.5 cm (9").
