Pair of Mid 17th Century Flemish Antique Carved Oak Bosses / Panels Depicting Summer & Autumn
Two unusual mid-17thC Flemish antique carved oak bosses carved as representations of the Seasons.
The first, a Bacchus-like figure holding a bunch of grapes, and wearing a hat of vine leaves and more grapes. The second figure depicted much older and, carrying a basket of wood, himself rapped up in firs and wearing a fur lined hat with his clay pipe attached to the front of it.
Condition – as per images. A minor repair is evident to the top of the wall plate of the older man (this is difficult to see unless viewed under close scrutiny) and there is a minor loss to the right side of his hat. The younger Bacchus-type figure has again had a very minor repair to the wall plate next to the elbow of his left arm (right of images – this is again difficult to spot). A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
