A mid 19th-Century Primitive English School antique oil on mahogany panel depicting a horse race.

With three horses almost neck-and-neck to the finishing line, looked on by two stewards in a raised wooden building with canopy; with one steward waving the winning flag with the Cross of St. George.

The painting bears a signature “DB IR” and is dated “1845”

Condition – Please refer to the images. Presented for sale in unframed “country house condition”. There is surface wear and a scratch that runs diagonally from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. This scratch has been re-touched in part historically. The painting does however still display well. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
