Description
A mid 18th Century antique wrought iron candleholder with the provision for one candle.
With a knopped stem, scrolled iron work with single candleholder, drip pan and supported on three shaped feet.
Attributed to France or its surrounding Countries.
The ring with a long spring / nip which moves sideways to accommodate varying widths of candles. Rope-like material, soaked in tallow or oil, would also fit through the ring as a candle substitute.
It is thought that the drip pan / lipped tray at the base used to hold water to extinguish any sparks.
Condition – Good as per the images.
