A rare find!
A 16thC and later (later = with 19thC alterations) English antique oak church pew.
Attributed to the West Country, one 16th Century pew end is heavily carved with a stylised beast over blind gothic tracery which incorporates lancets. The other pew end is again 16th Century but of plain form.
The two ends are united by a combination of a 16th Century moulded rail over a 19th Century bench which has been constructed from planks and shaped spandrels below.
Condition of the pew – as per the images. Surface wear is commensurate with age. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
