Late 18thC / Early 19thC English Antique Wood Carving Depicting a Knight on Horseback
Reserved
A lovely late 18thC / early 19thC English antique carved panel in elm, depicting a knight on horseback over a “torse”.
In heraldry, a “torse” or wreath is a twisted roll of fabric laid about the top of the helmet and the base of the crest.
This leads us to think that this panel once formed the crest to a Coat of Arms now long since lost.
Condition – as per the images.
Size: Width 25.5cm x Height 35cm x Depth 6.5cm (10″ x 13 3/4″ x 2 1/2″)
