A rare 19th Century Irish antique “Gibson” type Windsor armchair of primitive form circa 1880.

Excellent Provenance. The chair comes from the collection of Michael and Elizabeth Feller, Upper Slaughter Manor, Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, England. One of the best collections of vernacular furniture in recent times.

Superb colour and patination.

With a solid thick broad ash top rail and sticks/ spindles to the rear. The armrests are constructed from sycamore. The shaped seat is also formed from sycamore. Supported overall on four ash legs united by an “H” stretcher.   94 cm high 62 cm wide 43 cm deep.

Condition – all joints are sound. There are traces of old inactive ,worm particularly to the legs (long since gone but treated too as a precautionary measure). All joints are sound and the chair is ready to go. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
