An 18th Century English antique oak spoon rack, circa 1780.
Offered for sale with 8 x 17thC antique pewter “slip top” spoons of Continental origin.
The rack with shaped pediment to the plank wall plate has two shelves, each with six apertures (holding a total of twelve spoons between the two shelves) and below, a cutlery box with single-plank lid and moulded edge, which opens to reveal an interior void of any fittings.
The rack has attained a lovely warm patination to the surface over the years.
