Description
A late 17thC / early 18thC Italian architectural fragment in the form of a door pediment.
This would have once adorned an internal doorway to an aristocratic home.
Carved from walnut.
To the centre is a carved cherubs head with scrolls above and flanked by “S” scrolls. His wing edges form the decorative “broken pediment”.
The carving retain much of its original gilding/gold leaf.
Condition – surface wear commensurate with age. Please refer to the images.
