Sourced from a private maritime collection in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England, we are delighted to offer for sale a large 19th Century English antique carved wood side-profile head and shoulders portrait of a female classical figure.
Carved from soft wood, she was once mounted on a tall ship. Her name or that of the ship is unknown.
Portrayed with her hair tied back in a classical manner with a golden hair band and adorned with a tiara, her eyes heavily made-up, and her shoulders swathed in reb and golden robes.
Condition – Please refer to the images. There are traces of original and later over-paint. She displays very well. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
