Large 19th Century English Antique Pearlware Frog Mug, Bearing an Inscription “Presented to Richard Pickhavour Jolly Sailor Newport 1881”

A delightful 19th Century English antique pearlware frog mug decorated in underglaze blue with flowers and foliage.

The centre bearing a cartouche with inscription “Presented to Richard Pickhavour Jolly Sailor Newport 1881” flanked with sheaths of barley.

With a single scrolled handle.

Internally at the bottom of the mug can be found a green-glazed frog!

Condition – There is a slight frit at the top edge of rim (see rim) and age-relate crazing to the glaze commensurate with age.
