Early 18th Century Queen Anne Period Antique Walnut Spice Box of Rare Form

A wonderful 18th Century antique walnut box of serpentine form, circa 1710.

Dutch origin.

The lid opens to reveal an interior with six compartments and, unusually a drawer below. The interior retains the original marbled paper lining, probably used for storing spices.

This item has the most wonderful patination. original brasses, lock missing one replaced bun foot and a small sliver repair to the back of the lid.

Condition – as per the images. The lid has a very small repair to the back left where a small filet of timber has been used. This appears very historic and cannot be detected unless under close scrutiny. The box retains its original brasses. The lock missing is missing and one bun foot has been replaced at the back. A further condition report is available upon request.
