Early 17th Century Antique Pine Decanter Box With Iron Bindings
A rustic early 17thC antique pine box in original untouched condition with a dry patinated surface.
With its original carry handle, iron bindings, iron lock plate and the remains of its hasp too.
The hinged lid lifts to reveal a compartmentalised interior divided into quarters. These are likely to have accommodated glass bottles, possibly decanters or bottles containing medicinal liquids.
Condition – The pine surface has wear. The iron strap work also has wear and minor age-related losses. The hasp is missing in-part. A later male catch has been added to the interior of the lid to ensure that the lid still closes albeit it no longer locks. This is a good looking box. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
