A mid-17thC German antique stoneware bellarmine jug or bartmannkrug. Dredged by a fisherman off the Norfolk Coast, UK, near to the seaside town and port of Great Yarmouth.
In salt glaze.
The elongated neck is decorated with a typical bearded mask. The bulbous body bears a decorative medallion with the Arms of Ravensberg.
Provenance: As per above.
Condition – as per the images. This jug is in perfect condition with no evidence of repairs. A further condition report is available upon request. The jug displays very well.
