A late 16thC English antique oak child’s coffer or boarded chest.
English origin.
Of diminutive size (only 19 1/2″ wide), this coffer was made for a child.
Plank and nailed construction.
The single plank lid joined to the carcass by way of wire hinges. The carved front decorated with scrolls and stylised foliage. Supported on V-cut end boards.
With its original lock plate and the remains of the original hasp to the underside of the lid too.
Condition – Good as per the images.
