Description
A 17th Century antique box settle constructed from oak, pine and ash.
Of small proportions and made for either two children to sit or two adolescents.
With a panelled back flanked by shaped arms over a fixed plank box seat. Below, a single elongated drawer with its original iron handle opens to reveal an interior void of any fittings. Supported overall by four raised stile feet. and sledge feet below.
Condition – Please refer to the images. This has a really lovely worn surface (with minor traces of the original painted surface) and we wonder how many youngsters have sat on this over the centuries! It has a really primitive “country cottage” look. The settle displays incredibly well and also functions as a useful and durable day-to-day piece of furniture. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
