A Late 17th Century English Antique Carved Date Stone Dated 1686

A late 17th Century English antique carved date stone.

The top is carved with a cross flanked by two stars; below, the initials “R & RE” and dated “1686”. All is set within a carved frame.

The stone may well represent the marriage of R to RE in the year 1686.

Provenance: Acquired directly from a trade dealer based in Cumbria. Previously sold through auction in March 2022.

Condition – surface wear is commensurate with age (weathered). Please refer to the images.  This displays very well. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.

Size: Height 49 cm x Width 42 cm (19 1/2″ x 16 1/2″) – VERY HEAVY AT APPROX 50 KG (110 LBS)
