Description
A charming pair of 17th Century antique carved oak corbels in the form of male heads which are almost life-size.
Flemish origin.
Each depicted wearing a hat with stylised hair and full facial features carved in the round with lovely colour and patination. The heads display incredibly well.
Provenance – Previously sold 21st October 1994 by Keith Hockin Antiques, Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, into a private collection.
Condition – Please refer to the images. The is a minor loss to the base of the head to the right of the image and some age-related splits to the timber but these are sound and not detrimental to the carvings. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
