19th Antique Straight Razor or Cut Throat Razor With Scrimshaw Decorated Bone Handle

A charming 19thC straight razor or cut throat razor.

With a slightly curved steel blade, the tang impressed “Tweedall Late Lamprey”.

The bone handle again slightly curved and scratch-carved with scrimshaw decoration to one side showing a tall ship and sailors in a rowing boat in pursuit of two whales.

Whilst we are not advocates of whaling, it must be remembered that this comes from a previous period in history where such matters were deemed acceptable.
