Description
A charming 18th Century English school antique head and shoulders portrait of a lady.
Pastel on paper.
Offered in “attic found” condition.
Portrayed wearing a powdered wig and blue silk dress.
The sitter and artist are both unknown however the portrait has clearly been undertaken by an accomplished hand.
Presented in a gilt gesso frame of the same period.
Condition – Please refer to the images. There is very minor foxing to the surface to the right of the portrait. The 18th Century frame does have an age-related loss to the decorative bow at the top of the frame and there is a split at the bottom however this is stable and does not detract from the portrait which still displays very well. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
Size: H 95.25 cm (37 1/2″) x W 81.3 cm (32″) including the frame
