17th Century Style English Antique Slipware Loving Cup / Tyg Inscribed & Dated 1678


A 17th Century style English antique slipware loving cup or tyg of impressive size.

Made circa 1912 by the Ducker Pottery, Sussex, England. Bearing the impressed mark of the pottery to the underside of the base.

With three handles and bell-shaped bowl supported on a raised circular foot. Glazed in underglaze brown and yellow slip bearing the words “Mary Faris Your Cup 1678”.

Condition – one very minor frit to the rim, as per image 7, above the “M” and a feint hairline crack to part of the bowl running from the rim approx 7.75 cm (3″) in length (see images 6 and 9).  Please refer to the images. A further condition report is available upon request.

Size: Height to the top approx 20 cm (8″)
