A lovely 17th Century English antique oak elongated joint stool. Also known as a “form”.

Peg-joined and nailed construction.

With a single plank forming the seat board with moulded edge, over a carved supporting apron with lunette frieze, four turned and fluted legs with carved acanthus leaf detail to the lower half of each, united by four peripheral stretchers decorated with scratch moulding to the outer surface.

This form of stool would look great next to a period refectory table or even in a hall in its own right.

Good colour and patination.

Condition – surface wear is commensurate with age. The plank top has an age-related split but is stable and has a minor loss at one end. All joints as sound and this stool is readily useable. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.

Size: Length 124.5 cm x Height 46 cm x Depth 35 cm (49″ x 18″ x 13 3/4″).
