Early 17th Century English Antique Oak Country House Cupboard - Provenance - Ex Mobberley Old Hall, Cheshire, England

A wonderful country house cupboard of peg-joined construction in English oak.

17thC in date.

Sourced by us from a private collection in Bristol. Previously sold by Bonhams Chester, 22/11/2003, from the contents disposal of Mobberley Old Hall, Cheshire - Lot 2.

Mobberley Old Hall is a country house in the village of MobberleyCheshire, England, built in 1612 and extended later in the 17th century. The house stands in gardens which retain part of the moat and ancient yew trees. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and the grounds contain two Grade II listed buildings.

With overhanging pediment decorated with dentil moulding (please note the pediment is not shown in the image due to the low ceiling height in our store) above a cupboard decorated with an inset carved panel and single arcaded door leading to a further cupboard below with two doors. Original iron work.

Please note that the cupboard splits into two for ease of moving.

Condition - Good. Some backboards replaced. Overall, a good looking cupboard.

Available to view at our Walsingham store.
