Rare Early 19th Century Cornish Antique Candlestand or Lacemakers Table

  • Reference : 2517
  • Availability : Available Now
  • Dimensions : Height of candlestand 29 3/4" / top 11 3/4" x 13 3/4"
  • Price : £795

A good example of regional furniture as per examples seen in David Knell's book of English Country Furniture.

An English antique candlestand or lacemakers table originating from Cornwall.  Sourced privately.

Early 19th Century.

With shaped plank top above a single turned column supported with "stool" type base on four legs.

This stand is charming and has been made from various timbers from oak planks for the top to a walnut column (tfrom what would appear to be a recycled leg to a gateleg table!), the bottom "stool" support being made of varying timbers including ash.

Condition - all original aside the block supporting the top (made from pine) which is a later replacement although it does have a degree of age in its own right.
