Sir William Charles Ross (3 June 1794 – 20 Jan 1860) was an English portrait and portrait miniature painter of Scottish descent; early in his career, he was known for historical paintings. He became a member of the Royal Academy in 1842.

This charming watercolour (which appears to be on ivory) is surrounded by its original ornate gilt frame and oozes all the charm and character of the period which it relates.

Ths sitter, depicted in a blue silk dress, is unknown.

Condition - pictiure overall is good - set behind glass. Some losses to gesso frame.
